Tenant Migration
Microsoft 365 tenant to tenant migration, planned properly
Two businesses merge. A rebrand needs a new domain. A previous provider still controls your tenant. However it happens, you end up with mail, files and Teams split across two places. We plan and deliver the tenant to tenant migration so you finish with one Microsoft 365 tenant that you control, and a cutover date everyone knows about in advance.

Why tenant moves go wrong
Tenant migrations go wrong when they are treated as a copy job. The cutover date slips. SharePoint and OneDrive permissions do not map across. Domains and guest access clash. Staff spend days looking for files while customers wait for replies.
A growing business does not need a global migration programme. It needs a plan with honest scope, a rehearsal where it matters, and someone who will say what might break before it does.

Who this is for
Businesses consolidating two Microsoft 365 tenants after a merger or acquisition
- Firms taking control of a tenant a previous IT provider set up and still administers
- Rebrands that need a clean domain and identity cutover
- Teams stuck across two half-working tenants after a partial or DIY move
What an Office 365 tenant to tenant migration includes
Whether you call it Office 365 or Microsoft 365, the work is the same. The exact list of what moves is fixed in the plan after discovery.
Discovery and risk map
An inventory of both tenants: users, domains, mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and licences Dependencies and blockers written in plain English Cutover options with the trade-offs of each, rather than a single date to trust
Migration plan
The order of work and who owns each part A staff communication plan: what changes, when, and who to ask Rollback and contingency notes for the cutover window
Delivery
Identity and domain moves as agreed Mailbox, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams content moved for the workloads in scope A permissions and sharing check on the target tenant A post-cutover support window, agreed in the plan
Handover
A written record of what moved, what stayed and who owns the target tenant A recommended next step if the target tenant still needs structure What we do not do
Out of scope
A blind lift and shift of everything without a risk map
- Unlimited digging through historical archives beyond the agreed scope
- Ongoing managed IT support or device imaging as part of the migration
- Licence broking or pushing extra Microsoft products
- A full SharePoint redesign or automation work during the move (those follow on the target tenant)
How a Microsoft 365 migration runs
1. Audit. We inventory both tenants and set out the risks before anyone commits to a cutover date.
- 2. Plan. Scope, sequence, staff communications, cost and a definition of done. You can stop after the plan.
- 3. Migrate. We work through the plan, run a controlled cutover and support people through the first days afterwards.
- 4. Support. Optional. The usual next step is Microsoft 365 Foundation on the target tenant, not an open-ended support contract.
- Pricing is set in the plan once we know what is moving.
One tenant before anything else
Attract, Convert and Automate work should not start on a split estate. Automating enquiry handling across two tenants just doubles the mess.
After the move, Microsoft 365 Foundation often finishes identity, SharePoint structure and baseline security on the target tenant.
If you are unsure whether to migrate or tidy up where you are, an assessment gives you the evidence first.
FAQs
Common questions
Will everyone lose email on cutover day?
We plan to keep disruption as short as possible. How long depends on your domains, DNS and which workloads move. The plan states the expected window before you commit. We will not promise zero interruption, because no honest tenant migration can.
Can you move only mail and leave SharePoint for later?
Sometimes. A partial move can work when the risk map supports it, but it can also leave people working across two tenants for longer. We will tell you which option causes less disruption for your business.
Do you handle other Office 365 migration projects, such as from Google Workspace or on-premises Exchange?
Tell us what you have. The audit sets out what we can move directly and what needs a different approach.
Is this the same as Microsoft 365 Foundation?
No. Tenant Migration moves or merges tenants. Microsoft 365 Foundation builds identity, SharePoint structure and security on a tenant you already control. Many businesses need the migration first and Foundation second.
What do you need from us?
Global admin access to both tenants for the audit, a decision-maker for cutover choices, a way to reach all staff, and access to your domain's DNS settings for the mail cutover.
